"Girlfriends" By Artist Alvin Clayton

Alvin Clayton's vivid Matisse-inspired portrayals of interiors, jazz musicians and seascapes have garnered noted exposure. In 1992, he landed his first solo show at the Lee Author Gallery in New York's Soho. Buzz about the Caribbean-born painter whose face was a fixture in fashion magazines swelled when CNN's "Style with Elsa Klench" and the Japanese TV show, "What's Up in New York" visited Clayton's studio to introduce his work to the world. It was long before a curator at the Smithsonian Center for African American History and Culture placed a call to the artist, conveying an honor that was once only a dream. Clayton was invited to be part of a commemorative installation entitled "Location and Spirituality in African American Art" which had a six-month run at one of the country's most revered galleries.

In 2002, Alvin painted "Girlfriends" especially for the Mothers Off Duty annual silent auction. Demand was so high, he generously gave permission for a limited number of signed prints to be sold. Here's your chance to own a coveted piece of art history from this talented artist. Each printed on museum quality paper and is signed by the artist. An artist biography will be included. All proceeds from the sale of "Girlfriends" benefit the Mothers Off Duty Scholarship Fund.
